So, this past Monday, we went to see another Tokyo Police Club show at the Ottobar. Their performance was splendid, I must say. I have to admit that they are kind of in need of new songs despite the fact that they released their debut album, Elephant Shell, not so long ago. Well, maybe I've listened to their songs too much and I am the one who need to hear something fresh and new. The album included a lot of old songs which were covered in the EP. We still had a lot of fun. It's always great to see the live performance.
OK, here is why I think you must go see them:
01- Another fun part of going to see the live shows is that people are so into their own little worlds. Dancing and singing along the music, they seem not to realize that they are in the middle of crowds. Some clap their hands so hard that they almost hit the person next to them. Some shake their heads like there is no tomorrow.
02- You MUST go see TPC because it's worth it. Graham Wright (Keyboards, Vocals) makes it entertaining. Don't get me wrong, he is one of my favorite TPC members. He's just amazingly strange. Lol!! I don't know why he needs to get SO CLOSE to the keyboards when he plays. It makes me wonder how blind he is. (Well, I highly doubt he's blind at all.) Wow, it seems.. I'm making fun of Graham Wright... I AM NOT THOUGH! He's so engrossed in what he's doing and that makes me feel that I should have the same amount of passion for what I love to do as he does to his music.
The night was great. To compare it to the Black Cat in Washington, DC, the Ottobar is smaller. I could see all four members performing that night.
If they are in town, give it a try and go see them. You'll enjoy their show.
*I didn't have my camera that night, so enjoy one of their songs on youtube.
